University Orientation Leaders

The Office of Student Life and Engagement needs YOUR help! 

Do you remember those student volunteers that checked you in, guided you from session to session, and answered questions at your University Orientation?  Well now you are the experienced ones, and we need you to be there for our incoming students!

Student volunteers are needed to assist with our University Orientation programs.  We are asking current students to volunteer for one or more of the programs as an University Orientation Leader.  This is a great opportunity to take on a leadership role and help our new students as they transition to Jefferson.

Compensation:

  • This is a volunteer position that is a wonderful leadership opportunity and a great addition to your resume.
  • Student Orientation Leaders will receive a complimentary Jefferson t-shirt and lunch on the University Orientation date for which they volunteer.

Position Requirements:

  • Must be a returning or graduating student that is matriculated at Jefferson.
  • Must be available to volunteer for the entire shift at one or more of the University Orientation dates listed.
  • Must be willing to help all new students regardless of academic program.
  • Must be willing to assist with any of the corresponding responsibilities of an Orientation Leader.

Position Responsibilities:

Responsibilities may include the following

  • Serve as a student representative of the University
  • Staff the Check-In Table (record attendance, handout materials)
  • Greet arriving students and help seat them
  • Lead groups of students between sessions and around campus
  • Give a campus tour (guided path and talking points provided) or take students to visit the sample rooms in the residence halls
  • Serve as a resource, answering any general questions, and directing them to the appropriate office / staff
  • Help students make their way through the Resource Room
  • Sit with the new students at lunch and engage them in discussion
  • Assist with set-up or take-down of areas and collect evaluations at end of day

Pre-Fall University Orientation: Monday, May 15, 2017

Orientation Leader Shift Time: 7:00am-5:00pm, Hamilton Building, Connelly Auditorium

  • College of Health Professions: Physical Therapy, Physician Assistant Studies
  • College of Nursing: FACT - 1 Year program (Center City Campus)

Fall University Orientation: Tuesday, July 11, 2017

Orientation Leader Shift Time: 7:00am-5:00pm, Hamilton Building, Connelly Auditorium

  • College of Nursing: BSN Pre-licensure Traditional program and FACT – 2 Year program (Center City Campus)
  • College of Pharmacy

Fall University Orientation: Friday, July 14, 2017

Orientation Leader Shift Time: 7:00am-5:00pm, Hamilton Building, Connelly Auditorium

  • College of Health Professions: Couple and Family Therapy, Medical Laboratory Sciences and Biotechnology, Occupational Therapy*, and Radiologic Sciences*

*Students in the PP-OTD program, the PET/CT Certificate Program, the CT Certificate Program and the RIMS program are expected to complete the online orientation.
