Description

Dr. Edelstein’s laboratory uses genomic and transcriptomic approaches to study the function of platelets and megakaryocytes.  He is interested in finding genetic variants that alter platelet function or megakaryocyte function and have been associated with platelet and clinical phenotypes such as platelet count or thrombotic event.  In addition has utilized the platelet transcriptome to identify biomarkers that associate with platelet function, to identify new regulators of platelets, and to understand the effect of intercellular RNA transfer in the vasculature.
