JCPH Faculty Nominated for Distinguished Mentor Award

Robert D. Lieberthal, PhD, of the Jefferson College of Population Health, was nominated for a Distinguished Mentor Award (DMA). The DMA, established in 2007, recognizes Jefferson faculty members who excel in the mentoring of postdoctoral fellows.

“I believe a big factor of mentoring a postdoctoral fellow is building a strong relationship that extends beyond the classroom,” said Lieberthal. “I am grateful for the recognition I have received – I consider it a great honor.”

Lieberthal is an assistant professor in the College of Population Health. His main research interest is the application of economic and actuarial analysis to population health issues. He has been with the Jefferson College of Population Health for four years. Lieberthal received a PhD in Managerial Science and Applied Economics from the University of Pennsylvania in 2011. He also holds a Bachelors of Arts degree in Mathematics from Boston University and has completed extensive coursework as an actuarial student through the Society of Actuaries.

Lieberthal will be at Awards Ceremony of the 9th Annual Postdoctoral Research Symposium on May 20, 2014 in the Connelly Auditorium of the Dorrence H. Hamilton building. Each nominee will accept a Certificate of Recognition at the Award Ceremony. The other nominees include: Jonathan Brody, PhD; Laurence Eisenlohr, VMD, PhD; Mark Fortini, PhD; and Rajanikanth Vadigepalli, PhD.
