Ten Milestones for Our Tenth Anniversary

Jefferson and Council for Relationships MFT 10 years
  1. 2000:  first affiliation between Thomas Jefferson University and Council for Relationships as the Division of Family Studies with the Department of Psychiatry and Human Behavior
  2. 2005: agreement between Jefferson and CFR to develop joint master’s program in couple and family therapy
  3. 2007: first class admitted to the program
  4. 2009: first class from the program graduates
  5. 2012: self-study application for accreditation from the Commission on American Marriage and Family therapy Education (COAMFTE) submitted
  6. 2014: COAMFTE initial accreditation granted for 5 years with no changes required
  7. 2014: CFT students begin participating in JeffHOPE, which aims to improve access to health care and mental health care for the homeless and underserved population of Philadelphia
  8. 2015: four second-year students present posters at the Annual Conference of the Pennsylvania Association of Marriage and Family Therapy in Philadelphia, and two students in the program are awarded Minority Fellowships by the American Association of Marriage and Family Therapy
  9. 2016:  first faculty member awarded funding through the Jefferson College of Health Professions Dean's Research Award, as principle investigator for the proposal: “Developing Multicultural Therapy Competence: Exploring the Impact of a Clinical Practicum with Marginalized Clients in Non-Traditional Settings”
  10. 2016: tenth class admitted with 21 students bringing total students in the program to 43 (largest total ever)
