2016 American Association of Medical Dosimetrists International Plan Challenge Results
The results from the 2016 American Association of Medical Dosimetrists International Plan Challenge are in!
This year's challenge focused on a radiation treatment plan to be developed for cancer of the prostate. The contest is open to physicists, dosimetrists, and industry leaders. The plans are evaluated by an algorithm developed to remove bias and improve plan evaluation. The statistical analysis was done on plan quality - tumor dose coverage as well as low dose constraints on normal tissue . There were 420 plans submitted for this contest. This event is done to promote worldwide teaching and learning opportunities.
Alumni from Jefferson's Medical Dosimetry Program scores were impressive:
Shaomin Zhang - Class of 2006 scored in the top 10 of High Performers - she is currently working at Abington Hospital – Jefferson Health
Mihai Ene - Class of 2014 also scored in the top 10 of High Performers - he is currently working at Pacific Cancer Institute of Maui
Nellu Ju - Class of 2013 also scored as a High Performer and her plan was acknowledged as The BEST PROTON plan using RayStation treatment planning system. She is currently working at ProCure Proton Therapy Center
Chavanon Apinorasethkul - Class of 2014 - his plan was acknowledged as the BEST PROTON plan using Eclipse treatment planning system. He is currently working at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania
