Rock the Talk

All are welcome to the 2nd “Postdocs and Grad Students Rock the Talk” seminar where postdoctoral fellows, Drs. Natalie Chernets and Pardeep Kumar, along with Associate Dean Dr. Lisa Kozlowski will present “Discover the Art of Stretching Your Dollars and Brag About it on Your CV!” on Monday, February 6, at 1pm in Hamilton 210/211.

The seminar is part of a new series sponsored by the Office of Postdoctoral Affairs and Scott Memorial Library’s Center for Teaching and Learning. The series offers postdocs and JCBS graduate students an opportunity to enhance their oral communication skills and expand their teaching portfolio by presenting a 30- to 60-minute “how-to” presentation.

Presenters receive support preparing the talk from Center for Teaching and Learning staff and feedback from the audience.

About the Series:

Communication skills are one of the top rated skills that employers look for in their candidates.  What if you had the opportunity to be guided in the development of a seminar, to present the seminar and have it recorded, to have feedback on that presentation, and to have it available to show potential employers?

The Office of Postdoctoral Affairs is collaborating with Scott Library’s Center for Teaching and Learning on a new seminar series, “Postdocs and Grad Students Rock the Talk.”  Postdoc and graduate student “instructors” will prepare a 30-60 mins. long presentation on any topic in a “how to” style, rather than a research seminar. The whole Jefferson community will be invited to attend the talks.  If you’re interested in this invaluable opportunity to enhance your oral communication skills and/or expand your teaching portfolio, please contact Dr. Lisa Kozlowski, Associate Dean for Student and Postdoctoral Affairs.  lisa.kozlowski@jefferson.edu
