Faculty Frequently Asked Questions Regarding Accommodations

A reasonable academic accommodation is a modification or adjustment to an academic program that enables an otherwise qualified individual with a disability equal access to participation in University-sponsored programs.  A reasonable accommodation does not require a fundamental alteration of a program.

It is the student’s responsibility to contact you regarding accommodation needs. The student will have a letter from the Office of Student Affairs detailing any accommodation(s). Once they have initiated the conversation you can discuss with the student how to appropriately provide the accommodation.  If you need assistance with the process or providing accommodations contact Jennifer Fogerty at jennifer.fogerty@jefferson.edu or (215) 503-6335.

Reasonable accommodations are determined through a collaborative, individualized, and interactive process involving the Office of Student Affairs, student, and a liaison from the academic department.  If you have any questions please contact Jennifer Fogerty, Assistant Provost for Student Affairs, at jennifer.fogerty@jefferson.edu or (215) 503-6335.

Faculty members can arrange to have an exam proctored in their department or can request a proctor through the Office of Student Affairs (see below).  Exams should be proctored by an approved individual who will monitor the student taking an exam in a quiet study space.

Click here for the Online Proctor Request Form. Once we have received your request we will contact you to confirm if a proctor available. The Office of Student Affairs will do everything to honor this request; however, we cannot guarantee a proctor will be available for the requested time. Please submit your request 7 days in advance of the exam. For requests sooner than 7 days, submit the form (below) and contact jennifer.fogerty@jefferson.edu as soon as possible. See the section below for more details.
