The GU Multidisciplinary Oncology clinic at the Kimmel Cancer Center of Thomas Jefferson was organized in January 1996. This program is one of only a handful of such progressive programs available in the US. Patients with urologic malignancies such as prostate, bladder, kidney, testicular or other cancers can receive input from multiple cancer specialists during one visit. Experts in urologic oncology, radiation oncology, and medical oncology are available to evaluate each patient. Pathology and radiology consultation are available during the visit.

The members of the GU Multidisciplinary Cancer Clinic of the Kimmel Cancer Center are leaders in the field of urologic oncology. A list may be downloaded of some of their recent contributions to the field ( scientific publications, books, book chapters and presentations).

All cases are reviewed during a management conference held at the end of the clinic. Here, all members of the cancer center professional center staff discuss the case with the recommendations provided to the patient and referring physician.  Patients can be treated at the cancer center, treatment recommendations can be made to the referring physician, or confirmation of treatment plans are available. In addition, a large number of Cancer Center and intergroup trials are available. Many of these protocols are available at the Jefferson Cancer Network Hospitals.

The Cancer Center is a member of ECOG, the Eastern Cooperative Oncology Group and RTOG, the Radiation Therapy Oncology Group.
