The Department of Mission and Pastoral Care

"God gives vigor to the weary, new strengths to the exhausted. Those who hope in the Lord will gain new strength."

We recognize and respect an individual's need for spiritual guidance as a way of coping with illnesses like cancer. Spiritual counseling is available for all patients and families, regardless of religious affiliation, at the Kimmel Cancer Center, through the Department of Mission and Pastoral Care at Jefferson University Hospital.

The Jesuit Tradition
As a Catholic and Jesuit institution, Jefferson University Hospital draws inspiration from the healing ministry of Jesus and is committed to compassionate care for the whole person in the Jesuit tradition. Spiritual counseling and pastoral care are available for patients and family members on a 24-hour basis. An ecumenical team of chaplains serves patients of every religious affiliation on all inpatient floors and in the KCC adult and pediatric outpatient clinics.
