Standard Cancer Therapy

When a patient is faced with a diagnosis of cancer, a number of physicians and clinical staff members are typically involved in his or her care.

After the initial evaluation with laboratory, radiologic and pathologic studies, most patients require the services of a surgeon, radiation oncologist and medical oncologist or hematologist. Additional medical or surgical specialists, such as reconstructive surgeons or surgical subspecialists, may also be required. Case managers and oncology nurses coordinate care, and provide vital support and information. Nutritional consultants, pain management specialists and psychosocial counselors are also closely involved, making recommendations that are of critical importance to an ideal treatment plan.

This multidisciplinary approach to the care of our patients is what we believe defines KCC's excellence in cancer care. All members of a patient's care-giving team work together-designing a treatment plan and support services to meet the patient's unique requirements.
