Founded in
1918 by the Sisters of Mercy, and a member of Mercy Health System,
Mercy Hospital of Philadelphia was known as Misericordia Hospital
until 1997. A 286-bed acute-care, community teaching hospital,

Mercy Hospital
of Philadelphia’s Iris V. Henderson Cancer Center offers holistic,
comprehensive cancer care along with a variety of programs designed
to meet the needs of our patients during and after treatment.
The Iris V.
Henderson Cancer Center is equipped with a Philips SL25 linear
acceleration system and simulator, currently one of the most advanced
radiation therapy systems available. When a cancer diagnosis is
made, a team of medical, surgical and radiation oncologists work
with the primary care physician and develop the best possible
treatment plan. Treatments available include the latest approved
protocols for chemotherapy, radiation therapy and surgery.
