Lubert Family Endows Professorship in Cardiology

A University trustee from 2005 through 2011, Ira Lubert became an avid supporter of Jefferson’s cardiology team after witnessing the compassionate care they provided his mother when she was ill. Dr. Paul Mather, director of the Advanced Heart Failure and Cardiac Transplant Center at the Jefferson Heart Institute, was invested as the first Lubert Family Professor at a ceremony on Oct. 16, 2012. Endowing a professorship is one of the highest forms of philanthropy at a university and ensures the long-term stability of a department’s academic programs.
