Kenichiro Hasumi Endows Professorship in Medical Oncology
On March 6, 2013, Takami Sato, MD, PhD, was honored as the K. Hasumi, MD, Professor of Medical Oncology. Dr. Kenichiro Hasumi was an honored guest of the event.
Dr. Sato came to Jefferson in 1991 after being selected as an exchange fellow by the Noguchi Medical Research Institute, where he now serves as chair of the Board of Trustees. He began collaborating with Kenichiro Hasumi, MD, in 1997, and their partnership has resulted in the development of new and unique cancer immunotherapies. In addition to his roles as professor of medical oncology, director of the Metastatic Uveal Melanoma Program, co-director for the Cutaneous Melanoma Program and member of the executive committee of the Sidney Kimmel Cancer Center at Jefferson, he is a visiting professor at Chiba University and Osaka City University in Japan.
