Hematology / Medical Oncology Fellowship Program – Application

Application Process

• We review approximately 350 applications a year.
• We interview approximately 40 applicants between January and April
• We accept 5 fellows per year.
• We use the Electronic Residency Application program (ERAS) and participate in the National Resident Match Program (NRMP).
• We require a Personal Statement as well as 3 Letters of Recommendation, one of which must be from your current Residency Program Director.
• Our program does sponsor applicants on a J1 or H1B Visa. You must have current ECFMG certification.
• Applications are accepted starting on December 1 through February 28. We interview January through April.

Policy Statement for Applicants - Eligibility

To be eligible for a fellowship position in the Hematology/Medical Oncology Training Program, applicants must meet the requirements in one of the following categories:

• Prior to beginning fellowship training, applicants will be expected to have successfully completed an accredited three-year internal medicine residency program or two years of an accredited internal medicine residency training program with the intention to participate in the ABIM Research Pathway ("short track") prior to the date on which his/her fellowship would begin. Special arrangements must be made for this track and interest should be discussed at the time of the interview.
• Applicant should be a graduate of a U.S. or Canadian medical school accredited by the Liaison Committee on Medical Education (LCME), or a college of osteopathic medicine which is accredited by the American Osteopathic Association (AOA), or
• Applicant may be a graduate of a medical school outside of North America and meet one of the following qualifications:
  • Have received a currently valid certificate from the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates
  • Have a full and unrestricted license to practice medicine in a United States licensing jurisdiction
  • Be a graduate of a medical school outside the U.S. and have completed a Fifth Pathway program provided by an LCME-accredited medical school
