Sidney Kimmel Cancer Center Institutional Funding Opportunities

Call for Grant Applications 2016

The Sidney Kimmel Cancer Center (SKCC) is pleased to announce the following pilot funding opportunities for SKCC members.

Basic Science Pilot Award Grant:  Three awards at $50,000 each ($40,000 direct support and $10,000 Shared Resource credit) for 1 year for PIs who achieved a score of 40 or below on a recent peer-reviewed, extramural, cancer-related grant submission. The purpose of the funding support is to generate additional data to increase the likelihood of award in the resubmission.

Programmtic Pilot Award Grant:  The Sidney Kimmel Cancer Center invites proposals from programmatic research teams to support to the submission of P01, U01 and SPORE applications before March 2017.  These grant funds are subject to availability.   

Early-Phase Clinical Research Support (EPCRS) Grant:  This funding mechanism will support unfunded or underfunded Investigator-Initiated Trials (IITs) for SKCC members.  Maximum funding is $75,000 per year for 2 years.  

Translational Research Grant:  Two awards at $25,000 each ($20,000 direct support and $5,000 Shared Resource credit) for 1 year for support of translational projects designed to impact practice-based healthcare, hospital care, or the translational research process. Projects must be completed within 12 months.

Population Science Grant: Three awards at $33,000 each.  These awards will support development of population-based cancer research.

Travel Support Grant: Four awards of $2,500. This funding mechanism provides support to early career investigators including students to attend a scientific conference, present an abstract or poster, and report on the event to Executive Leadership.  These funds are stated to support cross-disciplinary participation. The travel awardees are required to report to appropriate programmatic meetings for (one basic; once clinical).

Deadline for Submission:  May 13th, 2016.  EPCRS proposals are accepted quarterly.

Scientific Review Committee Review Date:  May 18th, 2016

Announcement of Awards:  May 20th, 2016

Funding start date: June 1, 2016
